Meniscectomy of temporo-mandibular joints
Know Your Surgery
This is a surgical procedure to remove a damaged or dysfunctional meniscus (cartilage disc) within the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The meniscus acts as a cushion between the jawbone and skull, and its damage can lead to severe pain, clicking sounds, and restricted jaw movement. Meniscectomy is performed in cases of TMJ disorders, chronic pain, or joint degeneration to restore comfortable and smooth jaw movement.
