Third Degree Burns

Know Your Surgery Treatment
Third-degree burns are the most severe and life-altering form of burn injuries, as they destroy the entire thickness of the skin, extending down to the muscles and sometimes even bones. These burns may appear charred, leathery, or white, and due to extensive nerve damage, patients may experience little to no pain initially. Recovery from third-degree burns requires highly specialized treatment, including surgical excision of the burned tissue and skin grafting. Without immediate medical intervention at an advanced Burn Unit, these injuries can lead to serious complications, including infections, loss of function, and even fatality.
